it's me again

I hope you all haven't given up on me - I'm still here! Blaire is three weeks old today and I'm finally starting to get the hang of this mom business. (I said starting - I have a long way to go and a LOT to learn.) Friday was my first day home alone with Blaire and we had a great day, but I'm still trying to figure out how to take care of her while getting anything else done. Showers are a luxury and sleep is in short supply. It's hard to put together a blog post when you can't recall the last time you brushed your teeth. (Keepin' it real...)

I think I'll ease back into this blogging business with some random thoughts. It might be a little scatter brained but that's what happens when you're up half the night with a little one who sleeps during the day and thinks night time is party time. I have got to watch this Moms On Call I've heard so much about. I need my sleep!

This morning, Blaire and I ventured out on our first solo trip out of the house. I jumped on the bandwagon to CrazyTown and made a run to Target this morning for Missoni madness. (If you were on Twitter today, you've already heard all about the insanity that was the Missoni for Target collection release.)

I got to my local Target at 9:45am and much of the collection was already picked over. There was very little clothing left and limited shoe sizes. I did score a pair of the flats I had my eye on and a small case for my makeup brushes.

(I got the small purple case in front.)

Unfortunately, I was sleep deprived and not on my game and completely missed the baby girl clothes. I suppose it's for the best. Miss B's closet is full and I probably would have ended up with a cart full of clothes she doesn't need. Luckily, Target's website has been crashed all day because my attempts to load up a virtual cart with baby clothes was thwarted too.

I am so happy that my tv shows are starting to come back. Sons Of Anarchy and Rachel Zoe started last week (am I the only person who loves both of these shows? One can be into bikers and fashion, yes?) and Parenthood starts tonight. Pretty soon all my shows will be airing new episodes and my DVR will be full again. Between new TV and football on the weekends, it really is the most wonderful time of the year! If only we could kick this 90+ degree weather. Summer seems to last an extra month or two in Florida. Fall should be here by November.

In other news, I would give my left foot for a bowl of ice cream. In an effort to shed some of this post-baby weight, I've gone cold turkey on the cold, creamy stuff. Oh how I miss it! If only I had the willpower to keep it in the house and not eat it every night. But I don't. So I can't.

What have I been eating? Peanut butter and jelly. Not exactly the healthiest option but so tasty and it's fast and easy to make while B is napping or happy in her bouncy seat for 5 minutes. (I've heard the swing and the bouncy seat are lifesavers for some parents. So far, Blaire is not impressed.)

We had Blaire's newborn photographs taken when she was five days old. The photographer posted a few pictures on her blog last night and they are beautiful. I am so excited to get all the pictures back and to design the birth announcements. Here's a little sneak peak.

I could not love that little girl more if I tried. Her sweet face makes my heart so happy.

Hopefully it won't be as long between posts next time. And I promise to be better about commenting on all of your blogs. You'll just have to forgive me for the misspellings I'm sure to make. I'm usually typing one handed with Blaire in the other arm. I'm getting better at doing things one handed though!

Off to watch Sons of Anarchy. Jax Teller - swoon!

I remember those days!! Let's see.. Where to start.. Those flats were the cutest things in my opinion so you did well!

Carsyn was a good day sleeper and terrible night sleeper in the beginning. People told me to "make her stay" awake for longer periods during the day but that was easier said than done.. I lived on pb sandwiches!! Carsyn didn't even give me time for jelly. Blaire will grow to love her swing and bouncy chairs.. Just wait! I've missed your blogging, but I could stare at that sweet baby face all day long so I understand. I think you might be the only chick that loves football as much as me.. Carsyn's birthday party (in 11 days!!) is a tailgate theme.. I'm sure there will be princess parties in the future but the little miss really loves her football.

Get some rest momma!!

First off, Blaire is simply stunning! Seriously Mel, she is a beautiful baby (and I don't say that all too often!!). :-D

Next, you really need to post more often. I need you to document everything so I can prepare myself for possibly future babies!

I just got so excited when I saw you updated! I miss your posts but I know that it's hard to get in a routine with a newborn! It's amazing how many things you learn to do with a baby in your arms. Blaire is so precious! I can't wait to see some more pictures of that sweet girl!

I love that you went to Target on the day of the Missoni crazies. I kind of wish I had gone just to witness some lunatic shoppers!

What is all this going on at Target? I hadn't heard, but I guess I'm too late. The stuff looks so cute! I just may have to venture over and see if there are any scraps left. :) Your little girl is just beyond beautiful. Congrats to you!

So adorable!

We did an E-A-S-Y schedule (eat, activity, sleep, yourself) with both our boys. So they would eat when they woke up instead of before going down for a nap. This helped them not need food to fall asleep and that they ate a full meal to avoid the snacking habit :)

This worked really well for us and both my boys were sleeping through the night around 8 weeks!

Good luck and enjoy life as a new Mommy!! It goes by so quick! (As I am sure a million people have told you!)

Really, I know people tell all mommies that their babies are gorgeous, but I honestly mean it. There is just something about that hair and so wide alert eyes.

I am dying to hit up Tar-jay, but need to work up some courage first ;)

So great to hear from you! But the blog hiatus is well deserved. I'll be in your shoes soon (hopefully SOON!), and I can only imagine the time and energy required to care for a little one. Speaking of little ones, yours is just precious! Love the newborn session sneak peek and can't wait to see more!

Welcome back! We've missed you. =) There are STILL days when I don't shower or brush my teeth until afternoon. It's just the reality of motherhood. But so, so worth it. Babies are just the BEST! Glad you're enjoying your time with Miss Blaire!

That pic of B is presh! Must see more! And so true about the luxury of showering.

Yay! Blaire's so freaking cute! I've been told I should watch Sons of Anarchy - since I'm a Damages fan everyone say's I'd love it. that may be filling the void for me after finishing FNL this weekend and crying my eyes out. Oh and love Rachel Zoe too! I kind of can't believe she's still styling celebs with all she's got going on.

I've been wondering what the heck all this Missoni hype was all about!!

PS-she's ADORABLE!

new reader -- Blaire is a cutie. I have a 5 month old little girl. Time FLIES. Also, I thought I was the only girl who liked Sons of Anarchy. If you can get past the violence, it's so good. (And Jax is... whew...) :)
